Player Ratings: Manchester United 3 - 0 Crystal Palace

Manchester United:

Onana- 7

He was a spectator throughout the first half, with Palace failing to register a shot on target. He made two good saves in the second half and kept a clean sheet, preventing a Crystal Palace gaining any momentum to get back into the tie. His distribution was good when called upon, displaying his expertise by spraying passes to the full-backs and wingers.

Dalot- 9

Assisted the opening goal by cutting the ball back to Garnacho. He constantly made himself available in advanced positions on the right wing, creating chances and combining well with Pellistri. As United's only fit full-back it was crucial he performed.

Varane- 7

Showed his class coming back from injury, dealing with Mateta easily and often regaining possession in the opposition half.

Maguire- 6

Played well considering it was his first start of the season for his club. He was strong aerially and showed a good passing range but lacked composure occasionally.

Amrabat- 8

Impressive on his home debut after being ask to play out of position at left back for the first half. He was solid defensively and was the excellent at drifting into midfield as Ten Hag wants all his full backs to do. He paired well with Casemiro in the second half, which is a midfield which could be effective going forward.

Casemiro- 10

A near perfect performance. United's most important player has seen his performances drop at the start of this season, however he showed why he's one of Europe's best midfielders. His goal takes his tally to four this season already and is United's top goal scorer so far, not bad for a ball winning defensive midfielder. He grabbed an assist by crossing an inviting ball to the back post for Martial to finish well. The range of passing on show was a joy to watch; pinging passes to the opposite wing, firing balls through the lines, and flicking touches around the corner to beat a press. Made 5 tackles and 3 interceptions showing his completeness.

Mount- 6

Assisted Casemiro's head with a well delivered corner and won the ball high once or twice. He wasn't as involved as he would have liked but he did come off at half time.

Hannibal- 6

Showed energy and tenacity adding physicality to the midfield. Even after a yellow card he was flying into tackles which may have worried Ten Hag, but he stayed on and showed some good touches on the ball.

Pellistri- 7

A much better display than against Bayern (understandable given he was facing Alphonso Davies). He carried the ball well and was a constant threat on the right wing. He was denied his first United by a perfectly timed Chris Richards tackle. With Antony and Sancho out for the foreseeable future, this performance will give Ten Hag more reason to trust him starting on the wing.

Martial- 7

Showed some good touches and held the ball up reasonably well. Wasn't involved too much but took his goal very well, which was a difficult finish on his weaker side. Offers something different to Hojlund with his ability to play intricately off his teammates.

Garnacho- 8

Opened the scoring by coming off the left wing an into the box for Dalot's cut-back, as all goal scoring wingers should do. Rarely lost possession and showed his ability to dribble at speed. It would be good to see him beat defenders on the outside more and drive to the by-line.
